Spring Bay HT

The CW Event Team was in full swing this past weekend. We stayed close to home and took some of the greener horses to Spring Bay Horse Trials. The weather was perfect and it was nice to see everyone out having a great time.
I rode five horses total in the Beginner Novice and Novice divisions and had seven students competing at various levels. Here is a recap of the horses I rode this weekend.
Ready For April completed his 2nd event. He scored a 39.5 in dressage and finished 7th in the Open BN division on that score. He felt very brave and confident this weekend in both jumping phases.
Gointoseattle (owned by Gay Darcie), also competed in the Open BN division. This was his first event. He scored a 40.5 in dressage and finished 9th on that score adding no additional penalties. This OTTB was very relaxed in all three phases.
One, Two, Three Step was off to a great start this weekend scoring a 34.8 in dressage and jumping clean around the show jumping course. Unfortunately, Saturday night he somehow cut his leg in the field and I decided to withdraw him from competition on Sunday.
I entered Maggie in the Open Novice division where she scored a 30.5 in dressage and added no additional penalties to her score and finished 5th. This mare will be moving up to Training level at May Daze. She has been very successful and consistent at Novice and we are ready to continue that at Training.
Action Now scored a 42.5 in dressage and show jumped clean on Saturday. Sunday morning found us with lots of dew on the ground and only front shoes and no stud holes. Action Now had a “slip” before the water and although I did not have to circle, we did not take the most direct route into the water and picked up and additional 20 penalty points. We did manage to wiggle up to it and once he saw it, he went right in and through.
I am currently on my way back down to Ocala, Fl to compete and coach at the Florida CCI 1* and CCI 2* competition that will begin with in- barns on Wednesday and CCI 1* dressage on Thursday after the first formal inspection. I will spend the next few days taking a lesson or two from Karen and David, teaching Amanda Volle, my groom on her CCI 1* mount, Lucky Teddy, as well as riding Suzie Romej’s mare, Let’s Be Frank, until she arrives in FL later in the week to compete in the CCI 2*.
My Mom, Kitty Wieschhoff, is traveling along with me to see Simba compete in his first CCI 1*. As many of you know, Simba is out of my 4* mare that my Mom found for me many years ago in England. This weekend will be very special for her and she wanted to be here, in person, to see Simba compete!
I will keep you posted as the weekend unfolds!
