A belated Happy New Year to you all! So far we’re really off to a great start! Area VIII’s annual convention went very well and was definitely a rousing success! I took over the reins as the new Area VIII chair and we had Mary King as our guest speaker. She was gracious enough not only to answer almost every question we had but to also give a “virtual clinic” and critique DVDs that riders sent in. She brought DVDs of herself and told us what she was doing wrong and how she could’ve ridden better. Mary King really emphasized the importance of watching videos of yourself ride and watching videos of riders that you’d like to emulate.
The following weekend was the MSEDA’s year-end awards banquet. I was voted by the membership to receive the Kob Ryen Distinguished Service Award and also awarded a volunteer award for helping mary Fike with the steeplechase and showjumping for 2010 MSEDA event, and then doing the T 3day educational forum at the 2011 event. Three of my horses received awards too! Ready for April , owned by Rebecca Farm LLC, received 2nd place for master training level points, Investor, owned by Celeste Newman, received 4th place for master beginner novice, and Maggie owned by Nancy Cirgliano, received 1st place for the master novice division! Congratulations to all our horses and students who received awards!
We arrived in Florida a week ago and already it’s looking like it will be a wonderful trip south for us this year. We brought down 4 horses in our load and they all traveled very well and settled in nicely to the Florida weather and routine! All of them had a day off and a day of hacking to begin their Florida experience and then I have been able to get a few lessons from David O’Connor as Karen was out of town. Education in the new hitchcock pen and jumping has been great. The changes at Longwood since Joe, her son, has been here have been positive and great!! Untill next time Good Luck, Look up and Keep Kicking!!
