White Christmas

Happy New Year!  I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Christmas with family and friends.  Here in Lexington, we had plenty of snow making a pictresque but cold week!

The horses enjoyed their extra time off due to the weather but are back in the swing of things as of today. The entire CW Event crew is anxious to head south and really get to work. Please check the calendar to see the schedule of events for Spring.

Cuppa wishes everyone a very happy New Year and we can’t wait to for this season to get going!

USEA Annual Meeting

Greetings from Scottsdale Arizona!Â
Â
I arrived in Scottsdale Wednesday evening for the USEA Annual Meeting & Convention where eventers from all over the country will gather together for 5 days of fun, learning and discussion about this sport that we all love.  Thursday consisted of a lot of discussion where top level riders brought up some really interesting points.  Topics covered included: Educational Horsemanship Clinics at levels above training due to a seemingly lack of horsemanship in the new generation of upper-level eventers. Be on the lookout for a recommended reading list and a possible video series. The Dangerous Riders Watch List was also brought up.  Some proposed to make the list public, adding that anyone can go to an event organizer with concerns about dangerous riding, not only the “watchers”. On the flip-side, the Charles Owen Techincal Merit program was discussed.  This is a program where riders with a correct position, balance and striding on cross-country can be awarded prizes from Charles Owen. This year there will be at least one event in each region where awards are given for this!  I also attended to Course Builders/ Course Designers committee meeting where discussion of reverse pinning, proper staking, and education of officials were the main topics.

Be sure to go to USEA’s website and check out the rest of the discussions.Â

Fall Happenings

The Cathy and the rest of the CW Event Team have been busy, even in the off season.  Since the ICP testing we have been bringing the horses slowly back into work.  We have an exciting group of horses, most recently adding T-Bone!

T-BoneT-Bone is a 4 year old, recently gelded guy that came from the training center last Thursday.  He has impressed everyone with his classy looks and his calm demeanor.  We are excited to see what’s in this big guys future.

Enjoy the beautiful fall weather!  Happy Thanksgiving!
